Two teams from Marshalls PLC took part in the South Pennine Challenge once again this year and raised £6,000! They raised the money by seeking sponsorship from colleagues and also suppliers. Bosses at the firm agreed that any money raised by the walkers from friends and family etc would then be matched funded.
Chief Executive Graham Holden handed over the cheque recently to Steve Duncan.
Andy Ambler of the company's Brookfoot Works walked with Bob England, Mark Stoker and Barry Armstrong in the Brookfoot Pavers team. Andy completed the 50 mile course in 15hours & 33mins; he said afterwards "The worst bits were walking in the dark, when you lost your sense of perspective...but aside from that it was a great team effort for a good cause."
Bob England will now join the Foundations SPC project team, to give unique walkers prospective and useful feedback.
If you would like to give us any feedback about any element of the event, please email natalie@cffc.co.uk
The Marshalls teams enjoyed some real competition between themselves about which team would complete the challenge first...they are now looking for like minded people to sign up to the event and join in the fun!
Why not see if you can get some teams together and beat them either on speed or raising the most amount of money... don 't forget that you can split your sponsorship money between the Foundation and a charity of your choice. If your company already has a 'Charity of the Year' then they can benefit!
